WATAMOTE ~No Matter How I Look at It, It’s You Guys Fault I’m Not Popular!~ - Episode 1 - Since I'm Not Popular, I'll Change My Image a Bit

A month before entering high school, Tomoko is surfing websites about unpopular girls. She thinks she is popular because in middle school, a guy talked to her, a guy picked up her eraser for her when she dropped it, and a guy moved closer to her so she they could share a textbook. All these actions were misunderstood by her, as those guys were not actually "into" her.

A month later, she enters high school. She hopes after entering high school, her life will change and she hopes to have friends and a boyfriend. However, even two months after entering high school, she has never even talked to her classmates. Soon, she hears her classmates talking amongst themselves and it seems that all of her classmates have completely ignored her. Later, the class ends and the teachers remind the students about upcoming exams. Tomoko starts to imagine becoming a brilliant student where her classmates would approach her to ask questions. At the end of the day as she leaves school, a teachers tells her goodbye. She does not manage to respond audibly. As she walks home, she hears a conversation between the students that have already coupled. Her jealousy of her classmates only grows from there.

At home, it seems she's completely okay talking to her mother. She plays video games that require her to rub a guy's back. The guy seems to have erotic sensations/reactions but do not satisfy Tomoko so she throws the console across the room. She then contemplates what could make herself more popular. After that, she tries to dress like cute students, but fails. Then, she puts on her father glasses and she realized that that make it look like the dark rings around her eyes are gone. Soon after, she searches on the internet methods to increase her feminine charm. After following a method, she greets her brother Tomoki and her brother was truly shocked by her attitude. Then, she sits in her brother's room and demands to have conversation with her brother. The next day, on her way home, she eavesdrops on her classmates who want to go to karaoke. She was also greeted by a teacher but this time she managed to respond, although it was in a deep, awkward voice. She then went to a shop to buy a sweet, to reward herself for managing to reply to the teacher. At this store, she also managed to respond to the handsome shopman.

Later on her walk, she stops by a book shop called Book·On. After reading many books, she goes to another place, this time at WcDonald's. At the restaurant, she also managed to respond at the counter. As she is eating, her classmates arrive at the restaurant. Since she didn't want to meet them or them to recognize her, she sneaks into the restroom, and sucks in her cheeks like she tried the last night to disguise her face. Although she managed to get past her classmates unrecognized, she accidentally runs into her brother and his friend at the stairs. Luckily for her, her brother acts like she was a stranger. She also hears her brother's friend insult her.

Later, her brother finds her at a play park. Her brother coaxes her to leave the park and go home.
