Title: Because I'm Not Popular, I'll Go Home
Published: 09 July 2014
Tomoko spends her last day at Ki's place learning how to ride a bike. After several attempts, she finally learns and becomes inspired to travel back to her house. She ultimately fails and is brought back to Ki's place by her mother who disciplined her for acting so foolishly.
Tomoko gets a call from her mother saying she will be picking her up tomorrow afternoon. Ki proposes to get ice cream for their last day together. Since the place is too far to walk, Ki brings out two bikes for them to use. Tomoko gets on and falls off immediately, revealing to Ki that she does not know how to ride a bike. Tomoko lies about not knowing how to ride a bike. She instead claims that she had forgotten how to ride it since it’s been so long.
Ki insists on helping Tomoko remember how to ride a bike with some practice. Tomoko grudgingly complies, but after falling several more times, they come to the conclusion that it was not possible to learn in one day after all. Ki begins to walk away and Tomoko, who is angry at Ki for wasting her vacation by forcing her to ride a bike, tries to run over Ki with the bike and pretend it was an accident. Ki moves away in the last second and the bike continues to accelerate on the downward hill. Tomoko has a breakthrough and realizes she just just needs to pedal to ride the bike properly. After finally learning to ride it correctly, Tomoko is overjoyed with the feeling of accomplishment and feels like she can go anywhere.
Back at Ki’s house, they both watch a show about a middle schooler who rode all around Japan on his bike. Then, the next morning, Ki wakes up to a text message from Tomoko informing her that she decided to ride back home on the bike to test her potential. A little later, Tomoko’s mother brings her back to Ki’s house and apologizes to Ki’s mother on Tomoko's behalf. Embarrassed, Tomoko turns to Ki and makes up an excuse about how she had enough stamina to keep going but stopped because her butt was really hurting. Ki looks at Tomoko with pity and privately says that she needs to teach Tomoko a few more things next year.
