Watashi ga Motenai no wa dō Kangaetemo Omaera ga Warui!
No Matter How I Look at It, It’s You Guys' Fault I’m Not Popular!
It’s time for midterms and in order to avoid going to prep school, Tomoko decides to study hard this year. She goes to a coffee shop so she doesn’t get distracted. Unable to begin her studies, she wonders what the point of studying is if in the future she’s just going to end up getting a tiring job for studying hard. Later, a guy sits next to her to watch anime so she becomes distracted and starts watching with him. He leaves after two episodes and Tomoko goes home without doing any studying.
This routine continued for one week until they both finish the series. He tells Tomoko that he got fired for slacking off. Tomoko shyly asks if he’s having a hard time at work. He replies that it’s not too bad as long he gets to relax at the coffee shop. The day after that, the guy doesn’t come so Tomoko finally decides to study.
Tomoko finally gets her results back from her midterm. She’s happy to have average scores, between 68% and 76%. Tomoko goes home and muses over how that guy never showed up to the coffee shop again. She is, however, grateful for that experience because it encouraged her to at least moderately live up to people’s expectations. At home, Tomoko rewatches the anime and finds out it’s actually boring with no company.
