Synopsis

While watching anime, Tomoko notices that stoic characters tend to be well liked. She decides to become emotionless herself to improve her popularity. The next morning, while eating breakfast, Tomoki asks her to apologize for taking his sports drink. Tomoko does so but in a robotic way, which he mistakenly interprets as sarcasm. Angered, he uses the ‘iron claw” on her to inflict pain. Later at school, Tomoko stays in character as an emotionless person and passes the day being unnoticed. During lunch she has a sad realization that being an emotionless character on t.v. is a lot different than being one in real life, but still hangs on to her pretense. After school, Tomoko decides to go to a coffee house since it is supposed to be in character with emotionless characters. Tomoko fumbles her order, asking for a “giant” cappuccino instead of a “grande” cappuccino and becomes embarrassed. She is also annoyed about the tall stools making her feel tiny. She then tastes her drink and decides to sweeten it with honey since it is too bitter. While adding the honey in, Tomoko pours too much in and the drink becomes overly sweet. She decides that she never wants to return but as she gets off her stool, she trips and falls to the floor while spilling her coffee everywhere. The barista comes to her aid and she begins to cry in humiliation. Once home, Tomoko watches the next episode of the anime where it is revealed that emotionless characters are cutest when they show their human side.
