私の友達がモテないのはどう考えてもお前らが悪い

Watashi no Tomodachi ga Motenai no wa Dō Kangaetemo Omaera ga Warui.

No Matter How I Look at It, It's You Guys' Fault That My Friend's Not Popular.

SynopsisEdit

Try HardEdit

On the day of the sports festival, Tomoko talks to  and Kotomi about a manga magazine she borrowed from her brother's room where the protagonist is a "yankee," or "delinquent," who tries very hard at a meet and receives the accolaids from the cheering squad and others despite the fact that other students tried very hard for much longer. Tomoko asks if it "bugs" them. Yū does not understand, but Kotomi inwardly does.

Scavenger HuntEdit

Kotomi congratulates Yū for winning the scavenger hunt while Tomoko wonders how she could win without actually finding something. Yū's assigned object just so happened to be a pair of glasses. Tomoko wonders if that is alright.

Female ClassmateEdit

During the boy's scavenger hunt, an unnamed boy approaches Yū stating that his object is a "female classmate." Yū cheerfully goes off with him while the ignored Kotomi and Tomoko stare after her blankly.

Caterpillar RaceEdit

Tomoko competes in the "caterpillar race," and just misses third place. Yū congratulates her. Kotomi wins her race, and Yū congratulates her while inwardly realizing that people say the same thing whether a person wins or lose the event.

AssholesEdit

The public address announces the last event of the first half: the female relay race. Yū turns to Tomoko and wonders why she does not run off to join since was in it. Tomoko sheepishly admits that she was removed since when all of the others practiced after school, she spent her time playing video games. She claims that unlike the manga "jerk yankee" she is more of an "outlaw."

Cultural ReferencesEdit

  • "Yankee": (ヤンキー) is the slang usually translated as "delinquent." This is also the term Tomoko calls Masaki Yoshida in WataMote.

Memorial MomentsEdit

  • Tomoko actually questions gaining things without putting an effort into it. Compare her fantasies in WataMote of becoming a NEET supported by her brother.

QuotesEdit

  • "Hehe . . . unlike that manga's jerk yankee, you could say I'm more of an outlaw." - Tomoko
